AICPA Fellowship for Minority Doctoral
Students
Program
The AICPA Fellowship for Minority Doctoral Students program ensures
that CPAs of diverse backgrounds are visible in college and
university classrooms to serve as role models and mentors to young
people in planning their education and careers. These competitive,
renewable fellowships of up to $12,000 are awarded annually to
full-time minority accounting scholars who demonstrate significant
potential to become accounting educations. For the 2008-2009
academic year, 22 accounting Ph.D.s were selected as recipients of
this prestigious honor.
Eligibility Requirements
- Minority candidates accepted into a full time doctoral program.
(Considerable weight is given to individuals who hold the CPA
designation.
Awards
- Fellowships of up to $12,000 are awarded in July. (Payment is
sent directly to the recipient at the beginning of each semester
(fall and spring).
Application Process Eligible applicants should submit:

from each institution from which a degree has been received
- Two references

American Indian Graduate Center – Graduate Study
Scholarships and Fellowships
Program
Each year, the AIGC fellowship program provides $1,200,000 in
fellowships to over 350 Native American and Alaska Native graduate
students. Graduate fellowships are monetary awards made to American
Indian and Alaska Native graduate or professional degree-seeking
students, who meet all eligible criteria. The United States Bureau
of Indian Education federally funds the fellowship program. The
fellowship amount is typically between $1,000 and $5,000 per
academic year (not including summer), and varies from year to year,
depending on the availability of funds and unmet financial
need.

American Marketing Association Foundation Valuing
Diversity Ph.D. Scholarship
The American Marketing Association Foundation (AMAF), in
conjunction with the AMA Academic Council, established a
scholarship program in 2003 focused on creating scholarship funds
for populations underrepresented in the marketing profession.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- They must be from one of the following populations: African
American, Hispanic American, or Native American
- They must be a U. S. Citizen or a permanent U. S. resident
- They must be enrolled, on campus, in a full-time AACSB
accredited marketing doctoral program, and have successfully
completed at least one year.
- They have not previously received a Valuing Diversity
Scholarship
Deadline
Applicants must complete the online application found on the AMAF’s
website. Essays must be in Microsoft Word format; essays should be
two-pages, double-spaced, in 12 pt. type (approximately 500 words.)
Sources you mention in your essay should be supplied on an
additional page and do not count against the two-page maximum.
The two letters of recommendation must be received in the AMAF
office (located at 311 South Wacker Drive, Suite 5800, Chicago, IL
60606) by June 9, 2010

CalCPA Accounting Doctoral Scholarship
Program
Program
The California Society of CPAs has re-established this program for
individuals pursuing a Ph.D. in Accounting. The scholarship is
being made available to help address the current and projected
shortfall in Accounting Department faculty at California colleges
and universities. One requirement of the scholarship recipient will
be to join the faculty of a four-year college or university located
in California for a period of at least three years.
Award
- One doctoral candidate per year to receive a maximum of up to
$10,000/year with a possible renewal of three years total. (If the
requirement of teaching in a California school is not met, the
amount of scholarship received will convert to a loan for
repayment.)

Elon University African-American Minority
Fellowships
Program
Pre-doctoral and post-doctoral fellowships are available for
teacher-scholars who have completed all requirements for the Ph.D.
or MFA except the dissertation or who have recently completed a
Ph.D.
Eligibility
- Available for 1 or 2 years, fellowships are open to
African-American U.S. citizens who would like a faculty experience
at a medium-sized private institution.
- Applicants must have completed all doctoral work except the
dissertation by the current academic year and must be able to
provide evidence that they can complete their dissertation during
the fellowship. Visiting scholars will be given opportunities to
consider possible faculty positions at Elon University or
elsewhere.
Fellowships are available in all programs, including departments
in: Elon College, the College of Arts and Sciences; the School of
Communications; the School of Education; and the Martha and Spencer

- Located in the piedmont region of North Carolina. Elon
University enrolls 4,800 students in 50 undergraduate majors and
three graduate-level programs. Elon employs 275 full-time faculty,
85% of whom hold the highest degree in their field. Elon’s campus
has 28 academic and administrative buildings, including the 75,000
square-foot Belk Library which opened in January of 2000 and houses
108 computers and wireless network access.
- A selective, comprehensive school, Elon is a national model for
engaged teaching and learning, consistently scoring among the
highest of schools completing the National Survey of Student
Engagement. Four-credit hour courses provide time for active
student participation. Elon’s average class size is 22.
- Elon students completed one of five “Elon Experiences” prior to
graduation: Study Abroad; Internship, Undergraduate Research;
Leadership; and Service. Elon is first in the nation among master’s
level institutions for the percentage of students who study
abroad.

Fulbright Teacher Exchange Program
Program
Opportunities are available for 2-year college faculty and
secondary school teachers who would like to exchange teaching
positions with teachers in eastern or western Europe, Latin
America, Australia, Africa and Canada. Elementary school positions
are available in Canada, Columbia and the U.K. Exchange grants may
include full or partial travel grants and cost of living
supplements, depending on the country.

Eligibility Requirements :

KPMG’s Global Valuation Institute

KPMG recently established The Global Valuation Institute (GVI) to
bridge academic research with practice excellence. The
Institute—supported by KPMG’s Global Valuations network—funds
research on current valuation matters affecting companies,
investors and regulators. Its mission is to produce thought
leadership intended to improve business decision-making, interpret
complex valuation and financial reporting issues, and establish a
fact base for regulatory agencies and professional
organizations.
The GVI encourages members of academia to contribute ideas related
to its research agenda. Approved submissions are eligible to
receive grants of $5,000 to support research and authorship of
articles. Select papers will be featured on the GVI website and may
be turned into articles and/or referenced in documentation
published by KPMG’s network of member firms.

The McKnight Doctoral Fellowship
Program
The McKnight Doctoral Fellowship program is designed to address the
under-representation of African American and Hispanic faculty at
colleges and universities in the state of Florida by increasing the
pool of citizens qualified with Ph.D. degrees to teach at the
college and university levels. As a by-product, it is expected that
employment opportunities in industry will also be expanded.
Awards
Up to 50 Fellowships are awarded annually to study at one of the
nine participating Florida universities. Each award provides annual
tuition up to $5,000 (tuition above this amount is waived by the
participating institution) for each of three academic years plus an
annual stipend of $12,000. (An additional two years of support at
this same level is provided by the participating institution.)

NSF IGERT Fellowship Opportunities at the University of
Illinois at Chicago
Program
The Graduate Program in Computational Transportation Science (CTS)
at the University of Illinois at Chicago invites applications from
prospective doctoral students in management information systems and
business information. CTS is an emerging discipline in which
principles of economics, management and information and decision
sciences are applied to the field of transportation. As a National
Science Foundation-funded Integrative Graduate Research Education
and Traineeship (IGERT), CTS engaged students and faculty from
multiple disciplines in collaborative research to solve a broad
range of transportation problems. CTS IGERT fellowships provide a
stipend of $30,000 annually as well as full tuition and fees, plus
additional funding for international research experiences and
domestic travel.
Students must apply BOTH to a participating doctoral program (i.e.
management information systems or any area of business
administration) using the UIC graduate student application process
AND directly to the IGERT program. Fellows will be selected based
on students records and research interests, as well as balance
among participating programs and faculty. Promoting diversity in
the sciences is integral to the IGERT mission and members of
underrepresented minority groups are especially encouraged to

Postdoctoral Fellowships for Academic Diversity at the
University of Pennsylvania
The University of Pennsylvania (PENN) is dedicated to worldwide
academic excellence and is enriched by individuals, who, through
their different races and ethnicities, nationalities, gender
identities, abilities, economic status, and sexual orientation,
contribute to an intellectually challenging and inclusive
educational setting. The Academic Diversity Fellowship Program
seeks to attract promising scholars and educators from different
backgrounds, races, ethnic groups, and other diverse groups whose
life experience, research experience and employment background will
contribute significantly to our academic excellence.
Eligibility
The fellowships are available for postdoctoral training in all
areas of study at the University and seek to attract graduate
students who have completed, or will complete their requirements
for Ph.D. by their start date and postdoctoral scholars who have
completed their dissertation within the last three years. The
program is limited to applicants who received their degrees no
earlier than 2007. Candidates must be US citizens or permanent
residents. Postdocs, residents and fellows who currently have a
position at Penn are ineligible for this program.
Awards
The three year fellowships will begin as early as October 1,
2010.
Fellows receive a stipend of $43,000 in year 1 with $2,000
increments in years 2 and 3, as well as annual allowances for
travel ($2,000) and research ($5,000), and one-time relocation
expenses of $5,000. The University also provides a medical, vision,
dental and life insurance benefits package. Successful candidates
will receive highly mentored scholarly and research training as
well as courses and workshops to enhance their research success
skills and prepare them for a faculty position in a major
university.
